I’m really glad I found this article. It was very touching for me to read – I’m currently in a very strange situation that is “testing” the strength of my relationship with jazz. After reading this, I instantly felt much better after being reminded of why we’re all here doing the things we do. Thank you for that.

What are the specs on your custom “natural” slider?
The bell looks bigger and longer than either a miraphone or jupiter.
And what is the leadpipe setup you use. It’s impossible to tell from what few photos I can find.

But do have respect for the craft side of the musician’s ethic – which is where Charlie is (I think) talking from. Part of that ethic is not pretending to any kind of authority over your fellow players except thru your PLAYING. For some in the old school, thus, blogging automatically gives the impression that one is setting oneself up as a big noise.
