By now, I’m sure most of you have heard General Larry Platt’s American Idol smash hit, “Pants on the Ground.”
Which reminds me of a story…
Vikram and I play in a New Orleans-style brass band called Critical Brass, and our grand marshall is a gentleman named Alvin Harrison.
During a set break, one of us complimented Alvin on his handsome suit. He always arrives at our gigs dressed to the nines, but he was looking especially dapper on this particular day. He thanked us, and then mentioned that he sees all these young folks with their pants hanging down around their ankles, and that he disapproves:
“Why?” we asked.
“Well, because it’s disrespectful to women! No one wants to see your drawers…”
We nodded, and there was a long pause.
“Also, what if someone comes up behind you,”
he added,
“and you gotta run?”

Just came across this. The internet is wonderful.
